They gathered more than 700 users that listed their most liked destinations. High-spending tourists prefer obviously New York the most which can be considered to be capital city of the world. Barcelona comes right after, topping all the other counties in the world. 76 % of people want to have cruise as an accommodation, 73 % prefers luxury hotel and 70 % hotel chain.
Amazingly, 45 % of the respondents reserves the most expensive suite available for a room. Luxury travelers’ spends from 3,465 € to 6,295 € during the trip when the average is 1,072 €. The luxury tourist has an average annual of 128,000 € and they do one to four trips in a year. The luxury tourism phenomenon really boosts Barcelona’s economy significantly. However, it will eventually increase the gap between poor local residents and rich foreigners. Cost of livings are generally known to be the highest in Spain which makes it difficult for natives to live there in a long-term.
