Bormuth provides the perfect atmosphere for dinner with friends and visitors for a multitude of reasons.. Firstly, it is located in the heart of El Born, just off Passeig del Born. Moreover, it has a lively atmosphere and the food is extremely tasty. The menu tends to stick to traditional dishes and everything on the menu is a hit with the crowds. The highlights include choricitos a la sidra (small chorizo pieces in cider) and the berenjena rebozada con miel (crispy aubergine (eggplant) roasted in honey). The tapas can be paired with the delicious Albariño white wine on the menu, which is listed at a brilliant €3.60 euros for a glass. This restaurant is extremely popular so make sure to book in advance for groups. Finally, there is an enclosed outside area which is a great table to book if there is space. If Bormuth is full try Loft del Born next door.

The tapas in Barcelona can often be lacklustre and while many leave the city disappointed, no one will leave Cerveseria Catalana without their bellies full and mouths still watering. Located in Eixample on Carrer Mallorca, near Gaudì’s “La Pedrera” and “Casa Battló,” this authentic bar is full of character and it is upscale yet the prices are affordable, expect to spend around 20 euros per person for tapas and a drink. The restaurant specialises in tapas and traditional Catalan food and the highlights include crispy camembert, honey cod and prawn skewers. Don’t miss it!
Cereveceria Catalana does not take reservations.
Sister restaurant to Vinitus Barcelona, located on Consell de Cent, 333.

The food at this tapas bar is very highly rated on Tripadvisor. It has a familial feel, it opened in 1929 and now run by the founder’s grandchildren. El Xampanyet is in El Born right next to the the Picasso museum thus it is ideal to visit for lunch or after a long day of touristing. Moreover, it is the place to go for the authentic feel as the food is traditional and full of flavour and expect to be surrounded by loud, chatty spaniards. Be sure to try the home made cava and the grilled squid.

In the heart of Born, La Luna is a hidden gem off a touristic street. Great value for money, we recommend the Tuna Tataki and the pan con tomate (bread with tomato) in addition to the homemade Sangria, although you cannot go wrong with the menu. Finally, the service is great and the portions are large.

Well placed and modern, Loft del Born is located just off Passeig del Born. Loft del Born is the best place for great cocktails and good tapas. First of all, the gin and tonics are very sizeable. Moreover, the food is very tasty and affordable, so if you’re in El Born give it a try. The most noteworthy items are the chicken teriyaki and sashimi salmon.
