The Barceloneta landscape is undergoing major changes at the moment, with specific attention being given to the harbour. The new fishing quarter complete with market, restaurant and communal area will serve as yet another reason to move to Barceloneta.
The 10 million euro makeover has been funded by the Port Authority of Barcelona, enabling the city to return to its maritime roots. Through negotiations between local fishermen and the Barcelona council, it has been agreed that the new harbour will feature a new ice maker, fish market and dining establishment with presumably the freshest fish in Barcelona! Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated aspects of the project is the pier and suspended footpath that will allow the public to walk along the docks and observe the fishing activity below.
Here at Casamona we are looking forward to seeing how the newly improved fishing industry impacts the local area!
