Sant Cugat: The New International Honey Pot

In recent years we have observed an increasingly large influx of people moving to the town of Sant Cugat. This idyllic spot 20km north of Barcelona whose proximity to the centre of the Catalonian capital has helped to transform it into one of the most affluent suburbs of the city. Alongside its ideal location, Sant Cugat has beautiful, natural surroundings as well as shops and cultural destination points. All of which have converted the town into an international honey pot.

Expat Life in Sant Cugat

There are a lot of international schools located here Agora and Europa International School. For those more interested in educational opportunities in the heart of Barcelona, the area also provides a school bus service. The service transports children from Sant Cugat to the city center.

Sant Cugat has much to offer culturally. It hosts a monastery dating back to the 9th century, which is said to be the most important in the surroundings of Barcelona. The architecture of this century-old Benedictine monastery has long attracted tourists. Other medieval and Gothic landmarks such as the bridge of Can Vernet has maintened the town’s reputation as an area of interests for those seeking to profit from the history of Catalonia. For those who enjoy shopping, there is a wonderful street with typical shops. Lastly, for the more outdoor types, there are two horse riding shools and two tennis clubs with long trails for walking.

Sant Cugat is ever growing in popularity, especially among the international community. In 2014, 11.4% of its inhabitants were foreigners. It’s not hard to see why; with both the tranquillity and proximity to Barcelona, the historic has something for everyone.
