Due to its proximity to the center of Barcelona, it is popular with celebrities who want to escape the spotlight of the city center but still want to enjoy Barcelona life. The beautiful villas in the area are especially popular amongst FC Barcelona’s football players. The area is a family area, what makes it attractive to buy summer houses there and attractive for foreigners. 

The properties you will find in this area often retain traditional Catalan features, including tiled floors, wooden beams and stunning woodwork. This is a lovely, old part of Barcelona, full of green spaces and beauty – it’s great for families and long-term stay as it’s away from tourism. However, it could be deemed as a little boring and conservative but it is well connected to the centre of the city.

• Metro: The L6 metro line means you are just 12 minutes from PL. Catalunya (and this same line includes 10 stops within Sarrià). 
• Walk: Due to the area’s large scale and undulating landscape, walking might not be the best way to get around. However, reaching the high points of Sarrià is not hard thanks to the FGC, the Tramvia Blau, and the Funicular del Tibidabo.

The Market

The Sarrià food market is a 100-year-old authentic building. It reopened in 2007 after a refit, but it still maintains the original elements of the building from over a century ago. The building is very unique and the inside is modernized to increase brightness and functionality. You will find all kinds of stalls with many different products.

Tibidabo y Sagrat Cor

At the top of the Tibidabo Mountain you will find the amazing Tibidabo Amusement Park. You can get there by the “blue tram”, The Tramvia Blau, which has been running since 1901. It runs 1,276 metres up to the foot of the Tibidabo funicular, offering splendid views of the city and Modernista architecture. At the top of Tibidabo you will find a beautiful church called Sagrat Cor. You can take a lift to the top of the church and see the city from 575 meters above sea level!

CosmoCaixa

Europe’s most beautiful science museum is located in Gervasi. It has a mini Amazon rain forest, a planetarium and interactive activities for children. Visitors are taken 30 meters down into the 5th basement floor in a gigantic spiral that winds around a tropical tree from the Amazon region, an Acariquara. The newly opened planetarium offers different shows during the day.

The village of Sarrià was added to Barcelona in 1927, and now forms part of one of the largest districts in Barcelona, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. Today Sarrià retains its village atmosphere, despite its location within the city of Barcelona.
